Rainbow Hair – 5 reasons there isn’t a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow

It seems bold, beautiful and BRIGHT is what everyone is going for this year. Rainbow colors have been showcased at London & Paris Fashion Weeks. Also, on celebrities including Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea,Georgia May Jagger, Kylie Jenner, Cara Delevingne, Nicole Richie and Gigi Hadid –to name just a few. If it’s good enough for hair royalty, is it good enough for us? What you will probably notice is that, even with celebrity stylists and colorists on hand, colored hair doesn’t stick around for long. The Rainbow Hair Color struggle is real.

The maintenance mission

The Maintenance Mission – if you choose to accept it – will require color touch ups every week. Costly touch up kits can be expensive, but are essential if you wish to avoid the dreaded fade. Not only will this cause damage to your hair, but your hands, bathroom, bedding and towels are likely to be left stained.

Damaged hair

Your hair will need to be pretty light and free of color before you begin. Initial bleaching is only the beginning of the chemical exposure your hair will be put through. Regular color touch ups will exposure your hair to more chemicals, leading to dehydrated, lacklustre, damaged hair that is prone to breakages.

Make-up or wash-out

Despite having bright hair, it may begin to wash you out, leaving your skin looking pale and tired. You may find yourself wearing more makeup to compensate for this.

The hair/clothes clash

Rainbow hair color WILL affect your wardrobe choices. Green hair and red dress= red and green should never be seen. Not all color clashes work, so you might find you end up with rather a lot of black clothing.

Please do not touch

People become fascinated with touching your hair. Yes, it’s real. No, it isn’t a wig. And please refrain from touching my head.

So before you take the rainbow hair color plunge, consider the above. Whilst here at Grow Gorgeous, we tend to sway for a more natural look, we can’t say we haven’t been tempted to try the mermaid/unicorn way of hair; especially now our clever scientists have developed Grow Gorgeous Cleansing Conditioner Color Protect and Over Night to Gorgeous Masque –making it easier to keep your colored in in tip-top, magical condition.
