TEAM GG TALK STRONG WOMEN

Maddie: Brand Marketing Executive

Grow Gorgeous team member Maddy, with blonde hair that represents her self-expression.

Which woman has influenced you most in life?
Without a doubt my best friend Ella – she has forever taught me to be unapologetically authentic, always stay true to myself and go for what I want in life.

Why do you think International Women’s Day 2021 is important?
It’s a time to celebrate the success of women in myriad ways and to eliminate the feelings of competition and comparison between one another. Each woman is different, unique and great in their own way.

Which famous woman do you admire?
Lady Gaga is inspirational because she’s unafraid to show off her personality and dares to be different, without fear of judgement. I try and take a page out of her book when it comes to embracing myself for who I am!

What does your hair mean to you?
My hair makes me feel confident and represents self-expression. I feel like I can do whatever I want with my hair to suit how I’m feeling and I definitely feel my best with big bouncy curls! I feel gorgeous when my hair is healthy, thick and voluminous.

Lauren: Senior Social Media Executive

Grow Gorgeous team member Lauren, wearing a headband with shoulder length hair that gives her confidence.

Which woman has influenced you most in life?
As cliché as it sounds, it has to be my mom! She taught me never to give up on my dreams and supported me through all my life choices – including my fashion university degree, which many people told me not to pursue as it’s such a competitive market! I don’t think I would have the career I do today if she hadn’t believed in me.

Why do you think International Women’s Day 2021 is important?
It gives all of us women a chance to sit back and reflect on how far we have come. Girl power is such a big thing and IWD is a perfect opportunity to celebrate this, as well as being educational.

Which famous woman do you admire?
I have always been so inspired by Vera Wang – she is literally Girl Boss GOALS! Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be a fashion designer and she inspired me to go out and get my degree in fashion.

What does your hair mean to you?
I’ve always been quite self-conscious of my hair; it’s naturally quite fine/curly and I wore hair extensions for years. Last year I took the plunge to take my extensions out and invest in a proper haircare routine. Now my hair makes me feel confident and I’ve learned to love my curls.

Abigail: Head of Social Media

Grow Gorgeous team member Abigale, sitting outside on grass in the sunshine smiling with brown shoulder length hair.

Which woman has influenced you most in life?
My grandmother, Celia. She’s turning 94 this year and has always been the epitome of a strong independent woman with style, grace and a penchant for heels – even at her age!

Why do you think International Women’s Day 2021 is important?
It’s important to remind ourselves of the women who paved the way for us and the opportunities we enjoy today. Now it’s our turn to pave the way for women of the future, so they can be the best version of themselves.

Which famous woman do you admire?
The list could go on and on, but the top 3 would have to be Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sue Y. Nabi and Rihanna.

What does your hair mean to you?
My hair gives me confidence and completes any outfit – even lockdown workwear! I love the diversity of different hair types and the various ways of taking care of these.

Rosalind: Content Apprentice

Grow Gorgeous team member Rosalind, with brown curly hair that represents community.

Which woman has influenced you most in life?
I’d have to say two women: my mom and my older sister. They’re my best friends and inspire me to be the best version of myself, always offering support, laughter and love. We admire each other and love a good boogie!

Why do you think International Women’s Day 2021 is important?
It’s a way to acknowledge women supporting women – helping each other with their crowns, rather than knocking them down. I believe it unites us, encouraging women to build support networks and celebrating diversity

Which famous woman do you admire?
I love the confidence Lizzo exudes; she’s all about body positivity and female empowerment. I admire her because she’s unapologetic and embraces self-love.

What does your hair mean to you?
My hair is my self-expression! I’ve been following the Curly Girl Method for just under a year and I love the community that goes along with it. It’s great to be part of a group of women who are focused on helping each other embrace their hair’s natural texture.

Hollie: Content Manager

Grow Gorgeous team member Hollie, smiling with long golden blonde hair which is her favourite accessory.

Which woman has influenced you most in life?
My beautiful mom is both my best friend and my biggest cheerleader – she’s always encouraged me to build a life I love. I consider myself so lucky to have her unconditional love and support. I’m also incredibly proud of my sister, who’s the CEO of a company that strives to conquer harassment and bullying in the workplace. She’s a true advocate for women.

Why do you think International Women’s Day 2021 is important?
It’s an opportunity for us to recognize the brilliance and importance of women, whether that’s celebrating the trailblazers smashing glass ceilings or applauding those who simply dedicate their lives to nurturing others.

Which famous woman do you admire?
As a Harry Potter geek, I have to say J.K. Rowling. I’m in awe of the magical world she’s crafted and the imagination this sparks in children and adults alike. For me, the stories offers pure escapism and they continue to bring me so much joy no matter how many times I revisit them.

What does your hair mean to you?
I’ve experimented with some bold looks over the years, from a cropped pixie cut to pink hair, which I’ll forever associate with certain chapters of my life. While I might cringe at old photos, they trigger positive emotions and happy memories! Nowadays, I really treasure my long hair and like to think of it as my favorite accessory. There’s no doubt a good hair day can make your confidence soar.

Chloe: Social Media Executive

Grow Gorgeous team member Chloe, confidently smiling with long blonde straight hair, wearing bright orange earrings.

Which woman has influenced you most in life?
My mum, as she is really caring and selfless. She never puts herself first and is constantly doing things for others.

Why do you think International Women’s Day 2021 is important?
It gives women the recognition they need in a patriarchal system, but it’s also an empowering way of coming together and celebrating how far we’ve come!

Which famous woman do you admire?
It sounds very cliché, but probably Emma Watson! I found her HeForShe speech really empowering and inspiring.

What does your hair mean to you?
My hair is the most important part of my appearance when getting ready for the day. I always invest time and money into it, as I tend to feel more confident within myself if I’m having a good hair day.

Maddy Plant: Social Media Executive

Grow Gorgeous team member Maddy, smiling with ash toned blonde curled hair. Hair that makes her feel beautiful.

Which woman has influenced you most in life?
My mom has been a real inspiration – she’s a badass business woman who has always worked hard to look after me and my brother. Without her, I wouldn’t be where I am today: she pushed me and supported me through my university course to aim high and achieve my goals. Love you so much, mom!

Why do you think International Women’s Day 2021 is important?
It’s about celebrating our achievements as women. It’s important to remember what our female ancestors did to give us the rights and freedom we enjoy today. There’s a long way to go – some women still don’t have the rights to vote or work – but as one union we will make this planet a free and equal world.

Which famous woman do you admire?
I admire Emma Watson. Not only is she an incredible actress, but she stands up and speaks out for female rights. She’s a true leader and a bad ass woman, paving the way for future generations and never taking no for an answer!

What does your hair mean to you?
My hair allows me to be whoever I want to be! When it’s freshly bleached, freshly washed and curled it makes me feel beautiful, sexy and untouchable. No one can ruin my good hair day!
