3 Go-To Festive Hairstyles for Your Christmas Party

The most sparkly time of year is approaching. The glitz, the glamour, the lights- that’s right, the festive season is on its way! And here at GG, we have our priorities in order. Turkey and gifts aside, there’s a lot of socializing to be done. This means planning our Christmas party outfits and of course, the festive hairstyles to go with them. We know that the run-up to Christmas can leave you feeling a little overwhelmed and flustered. So, we wanted to help in the area where we know best and take a little pressure off your shoulders.

Here are 3 festive hairstyles to turn heads at your Christmas outings!

Hollywood Curls

As classic as it is glamorous, the Hollywood curls hairstyle goes hand in hand with gold sequins or a staple red dress. In turn, this makes it the one of go-to Christmas party hairstyles. Hollywood waves are like the diamond necklace of hairstyles, they can add an air of sophistication and indulgence to any kind of look. What’s more, they’re easier to achieve than you may think. Before you begin, prep the hair with some Repair Heat Protection Leave-In Oil to protect hair from heat damage of up to 195°C. Work one or two drops through the lengths of the hair. This oil also has cuticle smoothing technology to help increase that ‘Hollywood curls’ shine.

How to do this festive hairstyle

Step one: The key to this Christmas party hairstyle is to part your hair to one side, tucking the other behind your ear. This parting is synonymous with the Hollywood Glam aesthetic.

Step two: Divide your hair into sections. If you’re running low on time, thicken the sections to cover more hair at once for a looser curl.

Step three: Using your curling wand of choice, start at the top of the hair and wrap it around the base of the tong towards the tip, in the direction of your face. Lift the tong at the roots for an extra bounce of volume.

Step four: Wait about ten seconds. Release the hair and repeat these steps with each section of the hair.

Step five: As you reach the hair that frames the face, wrap it around the tong starting at the eyebrow point. Once all the hair is wrapped around, point the tong downwards at an angle so the curls fall perfectly around the shape of the face.

Step six: As a final step, spray some of the Grow Gorgeous Intense Thickening Spray at the roots for that final boost of volume and brush everything out.

Just like that, you have the perfect Hollywood curls.

High Voluminous Ponytail

Next, we have the high-voluminous ponytail. Just imagine this chic festive hairstyle worn with a halter-neck sparkly outfit. Plus, this isn’t just a Christmas party hairstyle. This versatile look can be worn on any and every occasion. A ponytail is an effortless look to achieve, so what brings this look from every day to one of the go-to festive hairstyles is all in the details and the volume.

How to do this festive hairstyle

Step one: The key to the high voluminous ponytail is to prep the hair with as much volume as possible. A good way to achieve this before you even begin to style is to add the Volume Root Stimulating Primer to your haircare routine prior. Massage it into your scalp, then leave for ten minutes and rinse thoroughly with a Volumising Shampoo and Conditioner.

Step two: Once everything is dry, use a curling tong to create a bend in the hair. You can get creative here and curl in different directions. This will achieve those effortless, broken-up style waves.

Step three: Divide the hair into three sections.

  1. The front: the hair in front of the ear on both sides
  2. The middle: the hair from the crown of the head until the point straight across the ears
  3. The lower: all of the hair underneath at the nape of the neck.

Step three: Work with the middle section to create your first ponytail. Return with the Grow Gorgeous Intense Thickening Spray and lift up the hair, directing the spray at the roots and work it through towards the ends. Pull all of the hair up and tie it tightly into place with a hair tie.

Step four: Next, tilt the head back and add in your lower section at the nape of the neck, adding it into the first ponytail with another hair tie.

Step five: Finally, add the third section with a third hair tie. Brush all of the hair back and again, add some of the Grow Gorgeous Intense Thickening Spray at the roots. This will help to provide that lifted, voluminous look without the need to backcomb.

Step six: Now that your high voluminous ponytail is set into place, the only thing left to do is conceal all of those hair ties! You can do this by taking a thin section of hair from the back of the ponytail and wrapping it around the hair tie. Secure it into place with a pin.

Slicked Back Hair

Finally, we have the slicked back hair. This bold look was first seen in the 80s and like most other fashion statements from that era, it has returned. It’s sleek, chic, and all over the runways. Slicked back hair is staying in style for the foreseeable and is one of the perfect festive hairstyles to spice up your Christmas look.

How to do this festive hairstyle

Step one: After washing your hair, add some of the Grow Gorgeous Intense Thickening Spray at the roots and work through the ends to add some texture.

Step two: Blowdry your hair all the way back. Unlike the Hollywood curls, for slicked back hair, we want no parting.

Step three: Lift the roots up as you dry to give the base of the hair some natural volume and body. Comb the strands backward as you dry the hair on either side of the head for a smooth hold.

Step four: With everything dried into place, smooth on some Volume Bodifying Leave-In Serum to each side and to the back of the hair to seal everything into place and control any flyaways for that slick finish.
